Wuhui Heart Sutra Flat Shui Ping Teapot is a masterpiece that blends spiritual philosophy, traditional aesthetics, and refined craftsmanship. Created entirely by hand by Gu Yuhua — a veteran artisan with over 40 years of experience and the third-generation successor of the legendary Zisha master Gu Jingzhou — this teapot pays homage to the classic Yixing heritage while showcasing individual artistry and innovation.
The teapot is crafted from authentic original ore Zhuni clay, and uniquely fired using the rare and ancient Wuhui (ash-sealing) technique. This process results in a deep black surface with natural variations and a rich, velvety luster — a mark of exceptional firing control and kiln mastery. The form follows the traditional “Flat Shui Ping” silhouette, known for its low and wide body that ensures optimal heat retention and balanced brewing.
The highlight of this piece lies in its full inscription of the Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra, meticulously hand-engraved with 268 characters by renowned calligrapher Liu Ye, a master from the Nanjing Calligraphers Association.
